Diaper Need Awareness Week Sept. 14-20, 2026

Babies Need Bottoms Hosts “Newest Neighbor Diaper Drive” During Diaper Need Awareness Week

During Diaper Need Awareness Week, September 14-20, Babies Need Bottoms is hosting the 2nd annual “Newest Neighbors” Diaper Drive.  Community members are asked to help fill the shelves with newborn and preemie diapers to ensure the smallest babies have the essentials they need for a strong start.

Newborn babies often require 10-12 diaper changes a day. Many people are surprised to learn that WIC and SNAP programs don’t provide diapers.  Community based diaper banks, like Babies Need Bottoms, are stepping up across the country to raise awareness of diaper need and how to make a difference for local families.

“1 in 2 American families struggle to afford diapers, and with the rising cost for food and gas, local families are really feeling the strain now more than ever,” said Meagan Lyon Leimena, Co-Executive Director for Babies Need Bottoms. “Every diaper donated helps alleviate stress on a family and is a gesture of care, dignity, and hope.”

Supporters can participate by:

  • Hosting a diaper collection at their workplace, school, or place of worship
  • Donating online or purchasing diapers from the Babies Need Bottoms wish list
  • Signing up to volunteer

Babies Need Bottoms distributes an average of 100,000+ diapers each month through a network of 80+ community-based partners across Western North Carolina. Donating a pack of diapers to Babies Need Bottoms means that a family will have extra support to keep their baby clean, dry and healthy.
