Babies Need Bottoms Opens Diaper Bank in Greater Asheville Area

Asheville, NC, December 4, 2017– Babies Need Bottoms Inc. is excited to launch as a new nonprofit organization in Asheville, NC. The mission of Babies Need Bottoms, Inc. is to improve the lives of babies, toddlers, and parents in the Greater Asheville area through diaper distribution, community awareness and partnerships.

One in three families in the US struggles to afford diapers. Government financial assistance programs (including food stamps and WIC) do not assist in purchasing diapers. Diapers cost families an average $70-$80/month per child, and clean diapers are vital for healthy babies and toddlers. Diaper need is especially large in the greater Asheville community due to high housing costs, low wages, and high living costs.

Babies Need Bottoms relies on community partners, such as media organizations, to help eliminate local diaper need. Diapers are collected through community diaper drives and financial donations that allow the purchase of diapers at discounted rates. Distribution of diapers and supplies occur through community partner organizations.
